The greatest burden on farmers in the People's Republic of Poland was the obligatory supplies — grain, meat, milk and potatoes. The system was based on the fact that each farmer had to sell a certain amount of products to the state (depending on the area of the farm) at low official prices.
In the Gręboszów countryside, as in the whole of Poland, deliveries caused dissatisfaction — working in one's own field did not guarantee a decent income. Mandatory deliveries were abolished only in 1972.
