Peasant farm — 2 morgues and emigration

The fragmentation of the land, the poverty of peasants and economic trips abroad at the end of the nineteenth century.
In the Dąbrowa district, as in the commune of Gręboszów, peasant farms with an area of about 2 morgues prevailed. Occasionally there were 6-morg farms; exceptionally above 25 morgues.
The fragmentation of the land was the cause of poverty. Due to the lack of industry in the county, the surplus population emigrated to France, Prussia, Denmark, the USA and Brazil. Boyko states that at the end of Galician autonomy, more than 50 inhabitants of Gręboszowa were already working in America or Germany — see Crumbs from Gremboszów (1911).
