During the period of battles between the Polish king Augustus II the Strong and the Swedish Charles XII, the Swedes plundered the area of the commune in the years 1702–1709 and destroyed many houses.
These events are part of a broader picture of the wars in the Vistula Lowland, an area that lies off the beaten track and also experienced marches by troops and repression against the rural population.
