Act of 27 October 1977 — Right to benefits after work on a farm.
On 27 October 1977, the Sejm passed a law granting farmers the right to pensions for work on a farm. The act entered into force on 1 January 1978.
The condition for obtaining the benefit was to transfer the farm to a successor or to the State Treasury. The law prohibited the transfer of land to people who did not work on the land. Pensions were modest, but they gave the elderly inhabitants of the village the right to benefits independent of family support after years of working on the farm.
