Gościniec Tarnów and transport across the Vistula River

In the Old Polish period, the area of the commune was located off the beaten track of the main arteries, but several roads were of regional importance. The most important were the Vistula and Dunajec rivers — along their valleys ran connections from Hungary through Nowy Sącz, Wojnicz and Opatowiec towards Sandomierz.
The Tarnów Inn led along the right bank of the Dunajec River (Tarnów – Żabno – Otfinów – Hubenice – Nowy Korczyn); in Hubenice there was a ferry service across the Vistula. From Tarnów through Lisia Góra, Dąbrowa, Breń, Olesno, Gręboszów and Ujście Jezuickie to Opatowiec there was a road connecting the region with the ferry on the Vistula — a key trade hub in the Sandomierz Valley.
