Land estates in Galicia

The large estates of the Potocki, Kwilecki and Kotarski estates — a list of villages and hectares.
After the first partition (1772), the area of the present commune was included in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, in the Dąbrowa County (starosty in Dąbrowa Tarnowska, courts in Dąbrowa and Żabno). In 1848, serfdom was abolished; land ownership was divided into tabular (large) and rustic (peasant) estates.
At the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, extensive tabular estates functioned in the commune:
- Count Artur Potocki — Biskupice, Hubenice, Kanna, Kupienin, Kuzie, Małec, Mędrzechów and Podlipie,
Samocice, Świebodzin, Wola Mędrzechowska (approx. 1827 ha in total);
- Countess Jadwiga Kwilecka — Bieniaszowice, Gręboszów, Karsy, Siedliszowice, Wola Gręboszowska,
Jezuickie Estuary (approx. 1103 ha);
- Stanisław Kotarski — Kłyż, Wola Żelichowska, Żelichów (approx. 692 ha).
Apart from farms, small peasant farms prevailed — often 2 morgues each — which was conducive to economic emigration to France, Prussia, Denmark, the USA and Brazil.
The records of large property were regulated by Tabula Krajowa (1870) — see the exhibit [Tabula Krajowa] (/exhibits/tabula-krajowa-1870/). *Szematyzm* in the same year (p. 89) mentions county officials, m.in. commissioner Jan Ruczko. The relations between the manor and the parish are cited by Bojko in [Krouszyny z Gremboszowa] (/exhibits/crumble-gremboszowa-1911/) — m.in. a letter from the parish priest Kalatowicz to Count Załuska (1843) and an engraving of the old castle in Dąbrowa — the seat of the county in which the village was located.
