Józef Piłsudski was quartered in Gręboszów with Fr. Piotr Halak during Legion fighting in September 1914.
In September 1914 Józef Piłsudski was quartered in Gręboszów at the rectory of Fr. Piotr Halak — in the immediate vicinity of the church of Wniebowzięcia NMP. From here he coordinated the defense of the Vistula line in the first weeks of the 1. Infantry Regiment of the Polish Legions.
