A mixed grocery shop in Gręboszów — an initiative of agricultural-circle members.
In 1911, on the initiative of the members of the agricultural circle, a food and industrial shop (the so-called mixed) was established in Gręboszów, run by Józef Szabla. It was an example of economic self-help of peasants and small rural nobility — an attempt to keep in the local circulation the funds that had been spent mainly outside the village.
Sources and studies from the period call it a "Christian shop" and combine it with the rhetoric of competition against Jewish merchants of the time. This is the language of economic tensions in Galicia at the beginning of the twentieth century; in the museum we quote it as a testimony of the era, and not as an assessment of the editors.
